The Anchor Home is a group home for people with various physical and mental disabilities. RAYMAR Landscaping along with a several other local businesses pooled their resources & with the aid of many volunteers set up a Pondless Waterfall for the residents to enjoy in a single day. Here you can see Connie quietly supervising things from the balcony.
Grace supervised most of the day on the trampauline. She could get a much better view from her springing altitudes.
Jerry appointed himself project manager by grabbing the only white hard hat in the place. It was up to him to figure out why water always runs down hill & how many rocks a wheel barrow will hold.
Where is Jerry's wheel barrow? The fellow in the tractor would like to help him fill it up.
Behind every rock there is a place and a purpose.
Rocks and Sweat
You need to be very carefull in creating the water's path.
I like this rock, ...well...maybe..this one is better.
It was a great day for learning and Mark is always the willing teacher.
Even Jerry's wheel barrow couldn't handle this chunk of stone.
Hmm....Anyone getting hungery yet?
Gravity seems to get stronger by the minute when you are rolling rocks in the hot sun.
Here is were the water will be recirculated back to the top of the falls.
Haven't you moved that rock yet?
A beautiful day full of hard work and anticipation.
It's kind of like working at Disney except these rocks aren't fake. It takes an artistic mind and a strong back to get just the right look and the right sound.
So when do we eat. Terence looks hungery.
I hear the sound of running water! Were did everybody dissapear to?
The first bit of water sounds good even though it is initialy very muddy.
When you look at a mess of rocks and plastic liner you hope that someone knows what they are doing.
On the left you can still see the recirculating return tube before it is burried.
There's Jerry the Project Manager hiding behind a tree with three wheel barrows. He likes to fill the wheel barrows to the brim with the lightest rocks possible.
Here the basic path is cut into the dirt before it is covered in plastic liner and rocks.
Here is the basic layout from another angle.
A list in tribute to all the local businesses that vounteered the time and resources for this pondless water fall day for the Anchor Home.
It always tastes better after some hard work.
Somebody has to make sure the umbrella doesn't fall over on the food. There was a volunteer found available for just about everything.
The water is is running down through and over the rocks and some how it disappears but it just keeps on running.
Hey what do you think my Dad's pretty smart ...Heh?
It was a great day and it has turned out to be a great pondless waterfall mor pctures of it in a more mature state are availble else where on our web-site. A special thanks to all the people who made this day such a success.
